Responsibilities:

  • For the first year of the job, the incumbent is expected to be deployed to VIETNAM BRANCH. The key duty is to put our VIETNAM BRANCH IT Dept and the services and systems IT supports in order. Act as the head of IT for VIETNAM BRANCH while the leadership team is still in formation.
  • Recruit, coach and put in place an effective IT leadership team for VIETNAM BRANCH, including the head of IT, and Application and Infrastructure teams.
  • Deploy and assure the compliance to all Group and IT policies, procedures and standards. Where local tailoring is required, to institutionalize this through consultation with Group IT. Where these are tool supported at Group IT, these tools to be deployed and used in VIETNAM BRANCH.
  • Transform VIETNAM BRANCH IT team to a performing delivery team, delivering to the business, either by managing the delivery of Group IT teams to support the business for the regionally managed systems, or by implementing and supporting these locally.
  • Responsible for developing and managing an integrated IT strategy to support the entire insurance business operations in the country drawing on the resources from the Group IT teams – Resource from  HQ (S'pore) .
  • Responsible for developing and managing the detailed IT plans to support the business operations including overseeing the development and execution of the detailed programme execution plan to support the corresponding business unit or department's business strategy. This includes developing or overseeing the development of specific solutions to address any business concerns.
  • Develops, maintains and grows the close working relationship with the business users and ensures the selection of IT initiatives that can derive benefits to his targeted business users for execution.
  • Influences Country CEO or Country head of the business in the use of technology, particular in the sponsorship of IT enablement to support business initiatives.
  • Creates and implements successful communication strategies to facilitate information flow between IT and business.
  • Upon completion of this tour of duty, the incumbent is likely to be redeployed to Singapore and/or Kuala Lumpur to undertake other management duties to support CIO in for the New market. 

Requirements:

  • A recognized University Degree in Computer Science , preferably with experience in insurance.
  • The incumbent should ideally have either a Senior CITPM or PMP certification. However, suitable candidates for the job must commit to achieving either of these certifications within 1 year of coming on board if this class of certification is not yet obtained.
  • The candidate must be highly conversant with the cultural innuendoes and work environments of Vietnam, and is proficient in written and spoken Vietnamese language
  • The candidate is also expected to have strong leadership skills in influencing subordinates and peers. A strong personality
  • At least 10 years in a leadership role in an IT organization with significant exposure to running projects or portfolio of projects. The leadership role should be of organizations' with at least 30 staff or more in a geographically distributed organization structure.
  • Ideally, having worked in a non-compliant organization and having executed change management in transforming the organization to a high performing organization and compliant organization would be a significant benefit.
  • Possess an analytical mind, good organization skills, people manager skills and intuitive ability to  be proactive and plan ahead with  strong team leadership and understand team dynamics.
  • A Team player who can lead in the brainstorm session with peers to problem solving and decision making and a Self-driven individual with a positive attitude who is able to champion for culture change management initiatives and engaging Business Stakeholders.
  • Excellent communicator with strong influencing skill set and able to manage conflicts and isself-motivated, committed and possess initiative & drive to ensure quality delivery and transformation of the project.
