Cost Accountant
Shah Alam / Subang (Selangor)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Omya Group Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Ensure accurate and complete compliance with Omya Group reporting requirements with respect to SMART,    OMIS,  OGIS, plant KPI's and other operations-related reporting.
  • Coaching and leading management team in standard costing and variance analysis, suggesting corrective actions where necessary and monitoring progress.
  • Ensure correct application of Omya Investment Models where appropriate, and support management team in preparing and submitting high quality CAR submissions.
  • Improve and maintain the quality of investment forecasting through efficient use of reporting tools, eg GIF/CAR tools/databases.
  • Support initiatives of Group Function Operations with respect to financial-related analysis and reporting, eg inventory monitoring & optimization.
  • Support and/or drive cost-efficiency initiatives at operational level, including supply chain.
  • Provide timely analysis to sales and marketing function with respect to actual gross margins where production and logistics costs as well as exchange rates for exports are requiring corrective action in selling prices.
  • Closing and Reporting: Achieving Group deadlines & quality requirements with respect to operations and financial reporting.
  • Standard costing compliant with OGCAS manual, as well as appropriate variance analysis being applied.
  • High quality submissions of CAR's to OEB, compliant with Omya Group Investment manual and supported by detailed working papers and appropriate sensitivity analysis (shared with country & regional finance and operations management teams).
  • Submissions of timely and complete investment forecast updates via GIF and in conjunction with 5 year plan (FC) updates (shared with country and regional finance and operations management teams).
  • Perform periodic review on product costing with selling price to analyse product margin mix and variance reporting on plant performance.
  • Support management team to achieve compliance with OGCAS.
  • Support management team in the implementation of manufacturing software modules and costing tools, eg Portolan, BPCS.
  • Co-ordinate and collate investment project information and provide management team with coaching and guidance on the use of appropriate investment project cost management reporting tools.
  • Monitor on-going project cost and provide progress report of CAR vs actual spend and updated costs to complete.
  • Quality reviews of periodic financial reporting in areas related to production.
  • Work closely with sales and operations to analyze, review and update product costing.
  • Support management team in ad-hoc production reporting-related analysis and initiatives which arise from time to time.
  • Periodic reviews/audits of fixed assets and spares inventories vs accounting records.
  • Work with plant administrators to ensure timely and accurate administration, eg inventory records, purchasing protocols, business permits/licenses, asset registers, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or with full Professional qualification (eg. CIMA, ACCA) with 5 years related working experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge in cost accounting concepts

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
